Ok its been a little while since I've been here but found out what the problem was. The secondary solenoid was bad. I stuck open all the time allowing a bunch of raw fuel to bypass and go into the secondary side of the carb. To test it I soldered the end of it up to seal it and put it back in the carb... Problem gone! Since then I replaced it with a new solenoid and now just need to retune the carb for best performance...
