Hi, I have an 06 corolla, 37,000 miles. Exact same thing happened. I took it to a dealer, Turns out it was covered by the 6yr/60,000 factory warranty. They replaced the ECM. It took half a day, and was free, which was cool!

When you run the codes it comes up with the code
P2716
Pressure control solenoid D electrical fault (SSV SLT)
Probable causes
1. Open or short circuit condition
2. Poor electrical connection
3. Failed shift solenoid valve SLT
I checked the grounds on the tranny case and both are tight, both connectors are tight, even though I could not get the connector off that does not connect at the shifter.
The fluid is at the correct level and looks/smells good.
Any ideas? Are the shift solenoids known to fail, or is it a bad electrical component
