and the point of a plastic tank is to never have to worry about rust or any problem again, as long as the gasket for the sending unit does not go bad, there wont be a problem, water in gas will rust the tank, it will take time but it will surely rust.
The stock tank is plastic. it is in 2 pieces, top and bottom then seam glued. it moves around during normal driving and tends to rub through at the seam towards the front. there is no good fix, only replacement. if you can buy a replacement OEM tank for $336.97, it's a good buy, by the time it leaks again, it will 18 years old and you will (hopefully) have grown out of 240's thus becoming someone else's problem.
be warned, it is not easy to change out. you have to drop the rear subframe, disconnect the brake lines and such. plus drain the tank. I helped when we did Rinku's and it was a bitch, even with six people and the lift at McDill AFB's shop lift. the labor if done buy a dealer would be around $1,000. I called for quotes. maybe the S13 is easier, dunno, Rinku's was a S14. Search and you will fing the thread with pictures and instructions. Good Luck.
Edit, here's the how to:
