Default gas tank is bad..

hey i was wodnering if they make OEM or maybe aftermarket PLASTIC gas tanks for s13's...??my car started sluging realy ba and so i checkd the fuel filter, when i pulled it off, like rust colored gas started dripping out. so i pulled the fuel pump out(the previous owner put a walbro 255 in it) and gosh it was terrible, i must have pulled about 1/2 gallon of rust out of the tank, so im going to drop the tank a work tonight and wait and find a new one, i checked the deal today, they wanted $336.97 for a new OEM tank, i also picked up a sending unit gasket, the previous owner must have tore it or soemthing because when i took the sending unit out, it was cut in half.

if there are no PLASTIC ones, i'm going to have my friend that works at Dixi metals make me a aluminum fuel cell(he made 1 for his S-10 and it tunred out great.)

radiator shops have a rock treatment... talk to radiator shops they will know how to fix it and put a sealer on the inside to reuse it without problems...

no they don't make plastic tanks for OEM re[placements, what would be the point... Having the radiator shop would prove more cost affective over trying to buy a cell or replacement tank and would last just as long.

i talked to the nissan dealer here in town and they gave me a quote of $336.97, but they have to order it which i would understand that..try the nissan dealer.

and the point of a plastic tank is to never have to worry about rust or any problem again, as long as the gasket for the sending unit does not go bad, there wont be a problem, water in gas will rust the tank, it will take time but it will surely rust.

if you have a radiator place do it, talk to the about anti corrosive... They have a liner(like robber grips on pliers) That keeps the metal from getting oxidized. And you will still be far less $$ than a new tank or a plastic replacement.
