Wait wait wait..... you guys are confusing automatic transmission with paddle shifters with Full manual transmissions with paddle shifters.


They are completely different and share NOTHING in common.

Automatic transmissions with paddle shifters are automatic transmissions. they still have a torque converter with clutch packs and bands.

Manual transmissions use a clutch just like a normal manual.

The M3 comes with 2 transmission choices. Both manual, One SMG. They both use the SAME transmission and SAME clutch. The SMG uses a hydrolic pump to push in the clutch, instead of using a manual pedal.
