Funny, my seats from my 89 would not work in my 95. They were much more comfy. My driveline, I never tried to switch over, but that really has more to do with the engine and transmission than anything else, although the length is the same.
I find it odd that any time I have gone to buy suspension parts for my 95, they ask me if it's for a 94/95 or for the 87-93 then since the suspension parts all transfer over....Oh wait, they don't ALL transfer over.
Taken from your refrenced web page: Being "based" on something, does not make it the same. The 94-up mustangs are significantly different than the 79-93's. Saying that the 94 and up is a Fox is like saying that an orange is an apple because their both round. Thats all I'm saying. The94-98's are generally known as SN-95's, while the 79-93's are generally known as Fox's. Ford redesigned the Fox platform to make it wider and stronger. This is why it is wider, and weighs more.
Well just so you know the platform is not wider. The underside platform is Identical to the 79-93 cars. I know the differences more than most sense I build 4.6 swap cars.
And as far as suspension Ford made the Fox4 better known as the SN-95 wider by making the track width wider. Ford also made the body of the car wider, not the platform. That difference in suspension width is why some parts are different.
I bought a wrecked 2004 Cobra and transferred everything over to my 93 mustang coupe. My car uses everything listed from the cobra.
Engine,trans,driveshaft,wiring harnesses, fuel tank, the factory fuel line even followed the contour of my fox platform perfect. I used the cobra hydroboost brakes. hydroboost booster bolted right into the old boosters spot.
My suspension is as follows with no modifications to the cars body or platform.
95GT Spindles with 04 Cobra brakes.
95GT rearend
95GT E-brake cables
79-04 Springs
04 Cobra shocks and struts.
04 Cobra wheels and tires.
The platform of the 79-04 is the same with some very minor changes. Its not comparing apples to oranges calling the 94-04 Fox platforms.
An apple is still an apple whether its green or red or has a worm in it right?
Oh by the way your 88 mustang seat will bolt right into your 95 car using the same bolts and holes.
I have the 04 Cobra seats in my 93 mustang again with no modifications to the floor pan.
Get your 95 up on jackstands as well as your 88 and you'll see every little bump and spotweld on the bottom of both cars are the same and in the same spot.
