Somehow I doubt the hissing noise is related to your knocking noise. Even with the POOR description you gave, those two don't seem like they are or could be related.
Take it to the mechanic and pay for the diag. and then if you think you can fix it, try.
Also, If it only makes the noise when you get moving, what makes you think it isnt related to the wheels/axles/suspension??
A knocking noise "comming from the top of the motor" could mean a number of things.
for example
Rod knock will often sound like it is comming from the top of the motor.
A dry lifter can be so loud that it can trip your knock sensor.
A loose pulley can knock
With out any video with decent audio, I don't think anyone will be able to help you.
