yeah... From what I read, the 1000/1 is a 1.5ohm stable amp so that would probably be the reason you are getting the pop. I think its designed to run dual 13w7s.
that would make sense because the 13w7 is 1.5 ohms stable, so (2) 13w7 in series would run exactly 1.5 ohms each. So I guess I will change my wiring back to series for my single 13w7 and run it at the 3 ohms
