the kid is in HS still and works 12 hours a week at best.

when yer that poor the cost of washers that are sitting around his house. vs the cost of ANYTHING else makes a diffrence. even a decent home depot T mod. he cant go get a full time job at reves and fork for a greddy or hks. also the washers couse better spool up then a bleader type. keeps the gate locked closeed longer.
