No so much squaring the motor. Stroking an already long stroked motor just increases the amount the piston comes out of the cylinder which also increases the side load stress on the piston skirt and wrist pin especially at high rpms. Where do mod motors make power? High rpms. The rod ratio is already poop on the mod motors no need to make it worse. These motors are small bore so they need rpms to move air (i.e. horse power) so increasing the stroke is not what you need. You need a bigger bore. Big bores unshrouds the valves. Only downside is that with cylinder walls that are thin you can't really stuff alot of psi down its throat. Best best is to keep the stock displacement and increase boost/shot. Or go to a 5.4 block. A 5.4 block has a 4.1652 stroke which is longer than a 4.6 but it has a higher deck height so the piston doesn't travel any farther out the bottom of the cylinder than a 4.6 does. So no side load. Just got to have good internals so you can spin it. If you knew the piston speed of a 5.4 at 8k rpms it'd make you puke. lol. -Mark
