I asked Steve this question once a few years back . (OMNIMAN, exceed any Honda engine builder here in TR.com) and told me the samething as all the hardcore engine builders in the country.
"Warm it up for a few minutes and rev it to redline."
My brand new ITR motor I bought about 5 years ago (yes brand new cause I work at Acura at the time) went w/ this procedure except there wasn't a warmup time.

The throtte got stuck at on its first engine start and was there for a good 10 second, lol. Don't believe me, ask John @ LHT cause we did the swap there, lol. The cable got stuck cause I was not paying attention was alignedthe cable to the trottle plate (fukin parts guy)

. Once that was fixed, clean up, left LHT and stomp on it all the way to 8500 RPM on Park blvd. Then droved home on I-275 back to Bradenton.
Hard 80,000 miles later and a few 12s runs, motor is still in my car to date!!!
So yeah, after that many miles, my motor is buring oil now so I've should have broke-in at the dyno!
