In fact, many cars today have skip shifts that bump cars into "lugging" mode when putzing through a parking lot or something similar. Of all the manuals I have driven I had never seen the skip shift until I got my camaro.....luckily someone before me had already put in the skip shift eliminator or I'd have had to park the damn car until I could do it.....I hate alot of these automatic functions on cars that give you no choice on things.....damn it I am driving the car unless the manufacturer is going to take responsibility when I get into an accident because the car is trying to drive itself they need to make it an option to use this shit. I need to be in control of things like traction, under/over steer, SHIFTING, hard acceleration (throttle by wire is shitty).
