Default motor idel can't handle a/c ??

Ok peeps, for those wiser in mechanics and honda's than me:

I've had the a/c in my car for about 6 months now. pre-a/c, idle was as you'd expect on a 92 n/a (with short ram AEM intake) Eg... idles fine.
When the a/c got installed, the idle, when the a/c kicked in, kinda slows down and kicks back up. the sensation as a driver is as if the car is about to stall but never does, as it (whatever it is that kicks in, fan i suppose) kicks in right on time.

I've actually never stalled with the car until today... Here is the context: Left the car at about noon at International Plaza, outside under sun for an hour. Go get the car, run on a/c... drive... after the 2nd stop sign, car stalls... i turn the keys, worried, and continue on... same thing happened a bit later... same problem...

When i turn a/c off, the idle speed seems a bit higher or about what it usually feels like and doesn't stall. when a/c is on, same impressions as if the car is about to stall but doesn't... exept for the 3 times it did today.

What should i make of that? The motor is close to 200,000 miles, so i know it's getting a little tired... but i can not drive with no a/c with this freakin heat!!

Any suggestions as to whether this is minor and i should just deal with it, or if there is a tune-up or a part i could change... or what would create this problem in the first place.

let me know. thanks.
