I heard about this story but never saw the video until now. Yeah he never should have turned his back on the suspect especially since he is obviously not being too cooperative. It could have gone both ways... without the OC spray, the suspect could have shot him at point blank which more than likely, would have had the current outcome. The intent of the OC spray was more than likely to boost the officer's safety and prevent the suspect from fleeing/ shooting but in this case once again that's not what happened. Everyone looking back agrees that it was a stupid and costly mistake on the officer's part but until you know all the details or you are put into the same situation, I don't believe you have any right to say he deserved it. These videos make great training material so that something like this doesn't happen again.
