This is what I was going to suggest. My Father had a almost fatal bike accident back in... '92. Was in the hospital for MONTHS and has been having surgeries every year since to help his left knee finally leading up to a full knee replacement last year. It has affected every aspect of his life. But in Feb he committed himself to buying another bike (' 06 vtx 1300) and riding again. The bike sat in the garag or weeks before he got the courage to actually take it out. And on our first ride, It was noticable that he was very shaken. Our rides got longer and longer and now its been a few months, he riding more and more.

It sounds like everyone agrees that if you take your time you'll get back in the groove. Just don't do it untill your ready.
