Preludes never made more than 200hp. At the time those were sold, the NSX was making 320hp. There's no way any Prelude was sold over the NSX for any reason other than price, trust on that.
True story, the NSX was targeted towards a specific group of people. When it came out it was way ahead of its time. Later on in life it should have evolved more but the NSX never needed crazy power to be fast.
