2. shorter gears dont have anything to do with final drive. anything. and all type r boxes do NOT have the 4.7 final, only 98+ spec JDM integra type r gearboxes do. And they really suck if you ever have to drive on the highway. Put a lsd equipped b16 and a usdm ITR gearbox in the same car, and noone on here would be able to tell the difference. i promise.
if shorter gears dont have anything to do with a final drive, then tell me why when u put a type r or a gsr final drive in a ls tranny, the gears shorten up? the final drive helps in how short the gears are. if you dont understand how gears work then dont say anything about it. the more teeth on ur final drive, the shorter ur gears will be (providing the teeth on the rest of the regular gears remains the same).
you are right that the 4.7 final drive is not in ALL type r's. and putting a lsd b16 tranny in would be the same as a us type r tranny. BUT, the 4.7 final drive of the jdm type r tranny's DOES shorten up the gears ALOT! no one would tell the difference in the lsd b16 and the us type r tranny bc they have gear ratios that are very similar if not the same.
