Depends on the amp...obviously some brands get hotter than others depending on their build quality. I would say it's more of a problem then a charactersitic though, an amp/system should be tuned and wired to the correctly where it can play at a substanial volume without heating up to the point where it kicks into protection. Your system probably won't last too long if this is a common characteristic.
