Thats what sells it! I was going to go through Nasa and everything which still is not a bad idea b/c I certainly do still need some instruction. But I paid nearly 400 for one day and probabaly got less than a hour and a half of track time

And as far as instruction goes, when you race with SAFE are there people out there willing to instruct or can you pay extra like with NASA?
This is exactly why I have fallen in love with SAFE. I added it up and I got nearly two solid hours of seat time. Where else can you get that?
While there are no specific instructors, I am sure you can ask for some extra help and there will be somebody there to assist you in finding the line. However, should all else fail, do an event at Sebring (or where ever) with a group who's purpose is to instruct their customers and then take what you have learned to a SAFE event. Then after doing a few more SAFE events, go back to that instructor specific school and learn some more. Also, I recommend going to SAFE's Website.

Depends on what you're driving and what size tire you need. Generally speaking, if you can get Falken Azenis in your size... they're cheap and really good for most cars. There are some other street tires that are on par with them. I was pretty impressed with the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 recently... but it's about twice the price of an Azenis, and certainly not that much better.
The Toyo RA-1 that Twank mentioned are REALLY good tires, but they're not a street tire. They're more of an entry level race tire. Fairly inexpensive (for a race tire), grippy (but not as grippy as they come), and long-wearing (much more so than the more grippy and more expensive race tires).
