'98-02 LS1 6 Speed...is the T56 strong enough?
I've been looking into getting a '98-02 Camaro Z28, 6 speed, for awhile. For the last month or two I've been researching information on LS1tech.com. I really want to get a 6 speed, with the Tremec T56 transmission, since it will mainly be a street car. However, that site is chock full of people with lots of problems running the T56. They seem to be rebuilding their transmission often, and the whole thing has to be pulled if you need to change just a slave cylinder. Also alot of the guys have problems with the "mushy" clutch peddle syndrome, which even after bleeding, wrapping the lines, still doesn't help. Is this just not a viable option in an LS1 powered vehicle? If these issues are commonplace with these transmissions, I don't know if it's worth it to get a 6 speed. Some of you guys out there who have 6 speeds, and or who know about them, could you give me some insight on how they cope with the LS1's power levels, and the reliability of the transmission from an owners perspective. Thanks.
