Pre-1987 Brake Upgrade?
Looking to do a budget brake upgrade and retain the 4-lug setup on the '84 Coupe. Seems that my best bet for cheap/decent brakes is the 73mm SVO brake caliper upgrade (these brakes were able to haul down my '87 vert with ease, so I figure they'd be great on the lighter coupe). Maximum Motorsports sells a kit for $227 that includes the the SVO master cylinder, calipers, pad clips, and a master cylinder adapter. I could probably source the parts individually at a reduced price, but it is good to know a complete kit is availble at relaively fair price.
Aside from '87+ GT/LX5.0 spindles and '87+ struts, what else would I need to make this work? I'd like to upgrade to stainless brake lines while I'm at it...so are the pre-87 lines the same as the 87+ foxbodies?
When I ran these brakes on my '87, I was running the 16-inch pony rims. Are these absolutely necessary to clear the SVO calipers? Can I get away with running 15's on the front...will 15-inch Draglites clear these front brakes?
I'm having a hell of a time trying to find all this info online. Any info/links would be greatly appreciated.
