Not really a good analogy because a trophy wife's only purpose is looks, i.e. she's basically useless beyond that, but you missed my point. A super car, unlike the trophy wife, is super because it surpasses 99% of other cars' capabilities in multiple ways and you love it for the rewarding experience that it gives you. It's about the total package doing most things better than regular cars, well except getting in and out of parking lots with steep angles. I'm not trying to be pretentious but facts are that my Gallardo is going to be faster in ALL of 1/4 mile, top speed, cornering and braking than
most cars while also looking incredible (my opinion), sounding incredible (again, my opinion) and doing it reliably for years to come, i.e. I'm not worrying about how much boost, nitrous and other shit I'm throwing at it that may or may not harm my vehicle. Are there cars that will be faster in the quarter? Always will be. Will they be faster around the track? Maybe yes to that too depending on length of straights versus number of corners; I've seen Miatas that can pull 1/2 g more than the Gallardo and would dominate it on a curvy track. Can they drive 150 miles to Sebring on pump gas and street tires, do a 2:30 lap and then drive home while looking as hot as a friggin Lamborghini convertible, being capable of hitting 160+ on the interstate and being as fun to drive? Doubtful. I mean seriously, you're saying that if money is not a consideration, you'd go with this:
instead of this:
because you don't think you're getting the value out of the supercar? (Apologies to Miata owners, just the first non-exotic non-racecar pic I found in my stash

) My Radical will make my Gallardo and your car look like a Krispy Kreme doughnut delivery truck on the track and it's not too shabby in the quarter either, but it is loud, physically challenging, no trunk, can't run longer than 80 minutes before it's out of gas and has a 50 mph slower top speed than the G, so it's not a super car, just a really bad ass track car that will put some whoop ass on most things that are within $250k of its price. The G will eat up most (not all) cars in most ways, 50 people will take pictures of it while it does it, teenagers will put posters of it on their bedroom walls like I did when I was a kid and cops will pull you over just to look at it, so that makes it super. I can tow 7000 pounds with my pickup and carry five people to 60 in just over 5 seconds in my g-wagen, the Lambo can't do either of those either, still super in my book.
You'd be about 3/10th faster than my spyder in the quarter at that speed; I'll stick with my Lambo though and will still call it a supercar while I would call your car a "car that is very fast in the quarter mile" which at 11.9 it is quite fast compared to most cars out there, not trying to insult. If it's up to the task for track duty as well, bring it to Sebring on May 6th, there are still four solo spots available which you should be able to get if you have racing experience, we'll see how it stacks up in times to some of the 'supercars' that have run the track:
