Hes right VTEC in a B16 doesnt hit all that hard but it is one of the loudests!
If you are certain its not hitting as hard as it should. Try testing the solenoid if its really working. Connect the positive wire from the soleniod to a constant power source and you should hear a click from the solenoid if its working properly.
You could also try running high beam vtec which is connecting that power wire from the soleniod to your high beams so when you flip you high beams on... WAM! its VTEC time! Lol.
This is what alot of people do when the first swap a vtec motor into a non vtec car and need to run a race before they had time to wire up the solenoid
(Sort of a cheap riged up sollution, but will get the job done for the time)
