I wasn't trying to go jdm I was trying to go with something that will work and keep the shifter slop to a minimum. Thanks for the input though.
and other than worn bushings that is the biggest cause of slop is the shift linkage. a mm of clearance at that point equals a few inches of play at the shifter.
