I concur with Zate; wider contact patch is better. However, not all tires on the same size will have the same contact patch. So double check that before you purchase them. Tirerack doesn't have the info on the two 225 sized tires you have listed but I'm sure if you call you can find out. The Yoko's have a 9.4" treadwidth which is the widest I saw of those sized tires. I picked up a set of the Avon Tech M500's in a 245-45-16 for the rear of the S2k. Although it doesn't have quite as large of a treadwidth as the Yoko's, I have had experience with them (the Yoko's) and they (the Yoko's) tend to be a little loud, even when new. So I compared them and the consensus is that they perform just as good, but are more quiet.
Thanks for the input, finding the contact patch for some tires is difficult. Loudness isnt much of a concern... at all. This car is gonna be the fun/weekend car. My CL will still be my daily driver.
