If you speed shift, and you ignite the tires for several seconds-you negate any gain. I agree completely.
If your car is a "threshold" car-barely holding on to traction (sounds like your's is)-power/speedshifting can really aggravate the situation and could ultimately slow you down a bit. I would only speedshift under the best traction conditions.
