i'd say don't crack it open, just take it off, fill it with water and see where it drips out, and then just sillicone that spot, better then re-doing to whole thing and then more then likely having it leak, just go to the hardware store and ask for a waterproof high-temp sealant or some kind of epoxy, just put a dab on the spot its leaking and smear it in with your finger
