Every ignitor I've ever worked with has had to be grounded to something. There should be no reason for you to touch the ignitor. Get some dielectric grease, find out where the stock location is, and mount it. This car had the GReddy PRofecB box under the hood - are you sure the vacuum sources it was using are plugged or re-routed to their stock location? Sounds a lot like what would happen if you had a bad vacuum leak.
