Here's what I have found to work when the current has to travel a distance longer than designed...

Black - Ground
White - Switched Source (usually plugs directing into your stock headlight harness)
Yellow/Blue - Plugs into the positive on your HID ballast
Red - 12V+ terminal on your battery
