The taper of the lug surface that bears against the wheel is more critical
than how long the actual lug is.
Example: Toyota lugs have a different taper on the mating surface than a honda has......and they use bigger socket sizes.
Be sure the stud doesn't bottom in the
lug before the closed-end lug contacts the wheel surface.
It does no good for the lug to be torqued to specs, but to only lightly touch the wheel surface.-Bob
