you are correct. But I still wanted to hear the "myths" on why not to use it. I have soaked all types of o-rings in WD-40 and never saw it break down. Guess it is time for an experiment, gonna spray some in a cup and dump in some o-rings and see what happens. Gotta beleive if the o-ring in the chain can not handle WD-40 it cannot handle the heat from being run at 160 mph on a lot of bikes.......
