That was a nicely spun article doing exactly what "foreign car lovers" do when they talk about domestics. But its good to see American car companies finally ponying up to the competition!
This paragraph is an example of spin, as transparent as it might be:
"And what do GM and Ford get for making their existing plants more efficient? It isn't tax breaks. Instead, they get accusations of not being "competitive" enough! Maybe here I should also mention that the average domestic parts content for Kia is 3 percent, while the average domestic parts content of Ford and GM is 78 percent and 74 percent, respectively. This means that buying a U.S.-assembled (or even foreign-assembled, for that matter) GM or Ford supports more American jobs than a U.S.-assembled car or truck with a foreign nameplate."
-Spending billions of dollars making factories more "efficient"? I hear that robots are better than humans at assembling cars..
-"Because average domestics parts content for a Kia is 3 percent...means that buying a U.S. Assembled GM or Ford supports more American jobs than a US Assembled car with a foreign name plate."
No its doesn't, it means that buying a GM or Ford supports more jobs than a KIA. The article could certainly be right about that whole sentence but how does Kia represent any other car manufacturer?
Just because its my only way of comparing, my Civic was assembled using 80% US Domestic parts and my Integra was assembled using 70% US domestic parts.

to foreign propaganda,

to domestic propaganda,

for facts!
