My simple mind says that to do this, you'll need to drive the woofer way beyond its BL limited xmax, toward its true mechanical xmax (sort of like a slingshot effect). Along the way, you'd generate lots of odd order harmonics, which would boost the spl.

Did the 147.3 come at the beginning of a burp, or did the system build up to it? I wouldn't guess you could play it all that long at that power level.

Don't take any of this as bashing...I'm just curious.

As for the enclosure, its about 2 cubes and uses aeroports (Welcome to Precision Sound Products!)

When I burp my vehicle, I start with the volume lower and then roll it up. If I try to burp it full tilt right off the bat, it usually makes the sub bottom out hard, something I never want to do again. So yes, I am pushing the sub to it's mechanical limits.

2000 RMS on a 500 RMS rated woofer tends to do that.
