No, You Don't have to use a special shield, But You Will Blind some/most oncoming traffic if you end up using just the stock shroud.

Some HID Kits include their version of a additional shied (mostly H4 setups), It looks like a piece of a cut up soda can...but it works (I guess), However...Don't you have a Non-Stock set of housings on your car or am I mistaken?
