When you look at the block with out the tranny you will see a seal that goes arround the end of the crank (where the flywheel bolts to) that is the rear main seal. It keeps the oil inside of the block. i.e. bad seal oil leaks out & the flywheel & clutch is right their so it will get oily & slip.
whenever i remove the tranny i change the seal just because its like $10 and you dont wanna have to do it later.
