well mr 240..how does it not have more displacement..the block usin the ls crank has 1834cc? and the gsr 1799cc..i know its not much but its something..also..yea it doesnt have the squirters which would be a given better..but ls/vtec is also cheaper..u can find ls blocks for nothing almost..and if u build the block correctly then wheres the problems...ive seen quite a few ls/vtecs with over 400whp..mtber has an ls/vtec on his site pushin over 550whp with stock sleeves..it depends on more then just what block and head..its how well its built/tuned..and i honestly dont think that the ls/vtec would be any less reliable....and it would be beneficial if your lookin for power thats very cheap..i mean..say 600 for gsr block...or 100 for ls. and more displacement..not much..but a lil never hurt for less money..
