92 Lincoln Continental with 45k old lady miles. White with pimp red leather, all the whiz-bang chit Lincoln is so good at. Cush and pretty damned good handling with 4 corner air suspension. I put 20%tint and looked awesome on its alloys.
What a total POS.
First, the motor mounts were shot. Fluid filled expensive as hell at 150 a pop, and only avail from Lincoln.
Next, a front airshock went poof, and the whole car sank like 4"...felt right at home with the rico suaves here in TNC...
Dealer wanted 400 per front strut. Found one cheaper, stuffed it in. Then the other 3 blew...and Midas had a 79.99 installed strut sale and the stupid kid threw 3 on for like 250 bucks. His boss called on Monday asking me to boot up the extra 1000 he should've charged. HA, yeah right buddy. I never saw that mullet at the Midas in TnC again...
Waterpump blew. Sideways frontdrive with no thought for maint when put together. Checked with Pep boys for a install price on the 29.99 pump...9 hours!! I did it myself 1 hour at a time, and became sure that any engineering brains at Ford were fired the year before they built this car. Bolts that hold the pump are longer than clearence to remove...jack engine, bitch, scrape knuckels, etc.
I figured out a week later the water pump took the back head gasket down with it...repaired at great pain.
Oil pump lost psi for a few minutes a month later, of course, no light or bell or gauge movement....main spun, rod broke too, swapped engines and the tranny promptly blew 6 months later.
I left that bitch with the tow driver from AAA and the owner of the tow truck gave me 700 bones for it, with 75k on it.
"It sure is pretty and that leather is sweet" he said
Yeah sucker, just wait...
PS the ac blew when I switched to 134 too.
GAWD I HATED THAT CAR!
