the best you can do is make the oil clean. I changed the oil 6 times in one week with my new motor. keep changing the oil till the oil is clean. drain oil into a clean pan and look at it closely in sunlight. if there is any metallic sheen it needs to be changed again and again till you see none. I dont baby my new engines much. my 2.3 was run hard the first day.if its built right it will stay together.
forget those ring breakin articles. you are far too late for that. if the rings dont seat in the first 30 seconds they never will.
