Mechanical may be a bit too basic to cover some of the structural analysis and the advanced dynamics you will need to know. I could be wrong and USF may have a specialty curriculum in ME to cover such topics as those.

My advice is get check the college catalog to see what the different curriculums are for the different degrees and programs.

I got my degree in aerospace engineering (ASE) since it was the only curriculum at U of F that covered what I needed to know to become a vehicle designer.
