start at a shope somewhere to obtain an ase cert. you need 2 years verifiable work exp. in an auto realted shop. sure you can take the test AND pass but they wont give it to you until you have the exp. good career but if you like working on your own car i you wont after a few years of being a mech and doing it mon-sat 8-5
