Because working on cars for that long is a LOT of suck...everyone likes working on their cars but also hates doing it...and doing that for an extended period of time is not very good for them.

They keep at it because thats what they know best, they are experienced enough to make easy money, and sometimes it can be rewarding.

It should be a hobby, most will agree, not a career
