I would assume a max tow of 1500lbs on your VDub. If the boat is lightweight, and the trailor is too, you should be fine.
I've never towed with mine (04' Jetta 1.8t) but I'm sure it can handle it.
See The whole reason why I even thought about towing a boat on my tiny car. is because I herd some guy say it was very possible..but im like its FWD....4cyl..and TINY....etc...he kept saying, its not a problem, its a stickshift......im still very skeptical...This guy was kinda redneck, and anything to him was "possible"
