ok well today i went and looked at a 98 gst. at first glance it looks like a nice car. very clean interior. starts and runs. 102000 miles. no knocks and very little (if any at all) smoke. well i took it for a test drive and found that it grinds going into 2nd and when i put it on the floor it hesitated a bit (like fuel cut). when we got back to the house, my buddy and i did a compression test and found cylinders 2-4 had 150 and cylinder 1 had 100. added a capful of oil and the compression went up to 130. so bad rings. other than that i didnt see anything else wrong. the turbo spools fine and sounded nice. oil was clean. had a small dent behind the passanger side door. so if im not mistaken im lookin at 1 bad cylinder and bad tranny. the guy was asking 4500 and i talked him down to 3800. i just want to know if anyone thinks im just asking for trouble with this.
