You CAN do it.
1) It won't last long, the engine will be heat soaked with the high intake air temperatures.
2) 6 pounds would be good on that motor, with a good tune.

If i was you I would go to the junkyard and search for some Side Mount Intercoolers.
If not go to www.johnnyracecar.com they have good IC's
