id say start off with an SV650S if your into looks, they are clean lookin bikes IMO, especially when you get them fully faired. the 03+ i would say would be your best choice cause you get more suspension adjustment, and slightly more power and 50-55mpg consistantly on them. only downfall is for some, that it isnt fast enough because its a 70hp vtwin. but thats kinda the beauty of them, great all around bikes, handle very well, and it purrs like a kitten in city driving at 4000rpm
as a honda lover and owner. i too suggest this bike as a great starter bike. i know a few people that have them and they are great all around bikes. torquey too.
