I hope that deposit is minimal.
If he is a scammer, you dont stand a good chance of keeping it.
Reason being, to have a sale 'stick', the item needs to be shipped to the buyers confirmed address with tracking. If you ship to an unconfirmed or allow someone to pick it up, all they have to do is tell Paypal they didnt get it and they get their money back.
Its called a charge back, and if the buyer files one you will log on to your paypal acct and see it deducted that amount. When you go to the page on the dispute, you will have two links to click. One is to put in a tracking number, and the other is to issue the buyer a refund. doesnt matter if you have a seller feedback of 50,000, thats your option.
So, never take a paypal deposit for something you arent shipping, unless the agreement is they will pay for it in cash when they arrive and you will refund them the paypal.
