Take it easy in the rain, you can accelerate faster than you can brake. I found that out a long time ago, sliding my car through a red light pumping the brakes frantically after accelerating full throttle to try to hit the yellow. You may have straight line grip, but don't let it fool you into taking corners too fast or cutting braking distances short.
And yet another vote for take it easy on the drivetrain. If you want to launch your car, take it to the drag strip and start with more clutch slip than you think you need, then slip it faster and faster until you hit your best 60'. It's easy to just dump it and break things, and it's also easy to slip it too much and kill clutches trying to avoid breaking things. There's a sweet spot and I felt that 60' numbers helped me find it much better than street launching.
