yes you need the knock sensor (depending on which ECU, i think the Y8 needs one and the Z6 doesnt, but that could be wrong), and NO VTEC SWITCHES!!!!
you would be 10000x better off to get a Y7 head, spend $90 to have Deltacam regrind it to a 272 profile, and get rid of VTEC altogether.
