Default could this be the problem?

i installed my motor and it had a knocking sound that would rise with rpm. it sounded like it was coming from the head, but i couldn't pinpoint it. also it had a small oil leak down by the pan. i decided to pull the motor back out and tear it down again to see what was going on, and to fix the leak. i got the motor out, and while i was pulling off the clutch, i noticed that about half of the fingers on the pressure plat were slightly bent inward and had a small groove on them. i looked down at the t/o bearing and it looks just fine. i used an alignment tool when putting it on. i never did listen for the noise with the clutch pedal depressed, but i probably should have. anyone got any ideas of wheather or not this could be the problem, or what i did wrong on the clutch install? i've installed many, many clutches in the past with zero issues
