You guys are forgetting that obd1 blocks came with oil squirters. They shoot directly under the pistons and are perfect for turbo apps. Also, all the older 4 bangers (9a, pre 94, PL, PG, etc..) all came with forged cranks rather than cast. That is where the potential hides. As for datalogging with Tec3.... i've never worked with an obd2 ford setup, but the TEC3 unit in my heap doesn't have the best logging. Though, as long as i can see my A/F vs Timing then i'm pretty content with it ... just want more !
Aint noone forgetting, atleast not me... Oil squirters dont help you make power, neither does a forged crank. Can they handle more power, yes, but it doesnt help make any. Put a cast crank in a 275hp 1.8 and tell me if you will lose power

Forged cranks and oil squirters are great if you already got them, but I wouldnt lose sleep over not having them. I ran over 20psi of boost constantly on my 1.8L 8v with a cast crank and no oil squirters for a long time.. And yes, you can build a 1.8 with a cast crank...
As for the Ford OBDII, I can datalog about 100 different items(simultaneously) plus the output of my wideband as a spare channel.
I wish they would come out with something similar for VWs....
